What is the Bristol channel and more importantly why fish it?

The Bristol Channel  is a major inlet in the island of Great Britain, separating South Wales from Devon and Somerset in South West England. It extends from the lower estuary of the River Severn to the North Atlantic Ocean. Within its officially defined limits, the Bristol Channel extends for some 75 miles (121 km) from west to east.

On to the fishing..... Well if you want to catch 30+ fish in a session, spin, float and even swim amongst the fish then my recommendation would be to go elsewhere. Although at times the BC can fish well it can not match the quantity of fish that you may get on other coasts. Quality however is where the BC has its advantages. The Bristol channel can offer some of the greatest specimen fishing in the UK. This is mainly due to the fish treating the Bristol channel as a breeding ground therefore throughout the year people will travel in search for that big specimen.
